Printopia 2.1 Brings New Features and Enhancements

7/18/11 - Ecamm Network today announced the release of Printopia 2.1. This Mac application joins forces with Apple's AirPrint technology to allow printing to any printer, and to provide innovative virtual printing options. AirPrint-compatible iPads and iPhones can print to any printer configured on the user's Mac, or directly to Printopia's virtual printers. The new version adds support for AirPrint printing from OS X Lion and a host of other fixes and enhancements.

With Printopia, Mac users can save paper by using a "Send to Mac" virtual printer. When this option is used, print jobs are saved directly to the Mac as files. Additionally, Dropbox.com users can send files directly to their Dropbox directory for instant synchronization to the cloud. Virtual print-outs can also be sent directly to a Mac application or automated workflows.

Printopia works great in a shared environment such as the office or at school, providing password protection for printers and encrypting the documents as they are sent over the air. Furthermore, Printopia now provides full access to printer settings, including ink-saving print quality adjustments, and options such as page size, paper tray and color mode.

Printopia's settings screen integrates seamlessly into the Mac's System Preferences, allowing users to start or stop the Printopia service and select which printers are shared. No system files are modified, making Printopia safe to use on any Mac.

Printopia supports any Mac-compatible printer, even duplex and password protected printers. iOS 4.2 and Mac OS X 10.5.8 or newer are required.

Printopia costs $19.95 and a free, fully functional 7 day trial is available at ecamm.com. Version 2.1 provides a new 7 day trial period for users who already tried an earlier version.

No system files are modified, making Printopia safe to use.

"The approach we've taken is unique," continued Aspeslagh, "allowing us to provide the greatest level of compatibility with your existing printers, without compromising features or future capabilities."

Printopia supports any printer your Mac can print to, including networked and password-protected printers. iOS 4.2 and Mac OS X 10.5 or higher are required.
