You can also get an Elgato Stream Deck app for your iPhone or iPad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why would you use a Stream Deck for live streaming?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The main reason why you would want a Stream Deck for your live stream broadcasts is because it is literally push button simple. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you&#8217;re running a live stream show, there&#8217;s a lot to think about in order to be successful and the last thing you want to think about is where to find something in your software so that you can move through your <a href=\"https:\/\/ecamm.com\/blog\/the-run-of-show-how-to-have-a-solid-stream-that-runs-smoothly\/\">run of show.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s nice to have a physical device in front of you so that you&#8217;re not searching for the right command with your mouse on your computer. With a Stream Deck, you can quickly glance and push to accomplish whatever action you want to take. That could be something like changing a scene or triggering a countdown timer. Once you&#8217;ve used it for a while, you&#8217;ll find that you won&#8217;t even need to look down because you&#8217;ll memorize where the buttons are and what they do and you can simply feel it. Magic, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Setting up Your Stream Deck in Ecamm Live<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Okay, so let&#8217;s talk about how to set up the Stream Deck in Ecamm Live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the best parts of the Stream Deck is that it&#8217;s really plug and play. You simply plug it into your Mac computer and then follow the below steps to get it set up within Ecamm Live. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reminder: Ecamm Live includes a plugin, which will add 15 custom actions to your Stream Deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you first connect your Stream Deck and open Ecamm Live, you&#8217;ll see this message pop up. You&#8217;ll need to click &#8220;install now&#8221; to add the plugin to your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/downloads.intercomcdn.com\/i\/o\/151556124\/8c89c9b9c7a6e1fa0b22e7c9\/installsd.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once installed, scroll down in the Stream Deck app&#8217;s list of actions, to find the&nbsp;<strong>Ecamm Live<\/strong>&nbsp;section.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/downloads.intercomcdn.com\/i\/o\/151556416\/87c64a15fda5f5e1527a81d8\/sdapp.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ecamm-live-custom-actions\">Ecamm Live Custom Actions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A custom action is exactly how it sounds &#8211; it is the way that you&#8217;ll let Stream Deck know what Ecamm Live action (example: moving from one Scene to another or muting your microphone) you want to assign to what button on your Stream Deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Action keys can be added and changed as you need. To add an action to your Stream Deck, just drag it from the sidebar to the button you want to add it to on the Stream Deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the Ecamm Live actions have additional settings that you&#8217;ll need to configure before you can start using them. Simply select the key to trigger the action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here are the Ecamm Live Custom Actions in Stream Deck<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Go Live<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Push this button and you&#8217;ll go live or finish your broadcast. If you&#8217;re creating a recording in Ecamm Live, this button will change to the Record key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pause<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This action is for record-only mode. It&#8217;ll pause your recording and resume when you push it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Run Scene<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.ecamm.com\/en\/articles\/3323951-using-scenes\">Scenes<\/a>&nbsp;from Ecamm Live will be listed in the popup menu. To configure which Scene you want to trigger, you can use the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A green rectangle around the key&#8217;s icon will indicate the current Scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/downloads.intercomcdn.com\/i\/o\/151557139\/c95b0721ea3378b6f69ba549\/runscene.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Next Scene \/ Previous Scene<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Move sequentially through the Scenes in your Scenes window.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Play Video<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Roll a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.ecamm.com\/en\/articles\/3323607-video-file-mode\">pre-recorded video<\/a>. To configure, select a video from the Finder, or pick from your recently played videos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pressing the action a second time will end the video and return to the previous mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/downloads.intercomcdn.com\/i\/o\/151558092\/4400221ec7b4430e49ba138a\/play.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Show\/Hide Overlay<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Show or hide an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.ecamm.com\/en\/articles\/3324007-adjusting-sound-levels\">overlay<\/a>&nbsp;from the Overlays window. To configure, select an overlay from the Overlays window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/downloads.intercomcdn.com\/i\/o\/151558559\/a61488787ba037bdedae7dcc\/overlay.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Play Sound<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A quick way to play music or a sound effect. To configure, select a sound file from the Finder, or from the list of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.ecamm.com\/en\/articles\/3324007-adjusting-sound-levels\">Sound Effects<\/a>. Additional settings include volume level, and an option for playback behavior. (Play\/Stop, Play\/Restart, or Loop\/Stop) &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: this action should always be used in place of Stream Deck&#8217;s built-in&nbsp;<strong>Soundboard: Play Audio<\/strong>&nbsp;action, as&nbsp;<strong>Play Audio<\/strong>&nbsp;will&nbsp;<em>not<\/em>&nbsp;automatically route the sound into your Ecamm Live broadcast.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/downloads.intercomcdn.com\/i\/o\/151559047\/4eaf394777d3df703c33cbca\/playsound.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stop Sound<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Stop the currently playing music or sound effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Camera Switcher<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Use this action to switch to a specific camera when multiple cameras are connected. To configure, select the desired camera. A checkbox is also provided to indicate whether or not to switch into Camera mode. (Uncheck this checkbox to trigger a camera switch without switching to Camera mode, for example if you&#8217;re in Screenshare mode with a picture-in-picture window.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/downloads.intercomcdn.com\/i\/o\/151560052\/e1515cb8fed9352432e41b2a\/cam.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Screenshare Mode<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This action will switch to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.ecamm.com\/en\/articles\/3323578-screen-share-mode\">Screenshare mode<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Show\/Hide PIP<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This action toggles the picture-in-picture window. When in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.ecamm.com\/en\/articles\/3323548-camera-mode\">Camera mode<\/a>, it will switch between split-screen mode and PIP mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hide Last Comment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Hide the last promoted comment overlay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mute<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Mute the microphone. Press the action again to unmute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Viewers<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This action displays the viewer count from the current streaming platform.
